The Flights of Fancy Showcase is for our experimenters and our day dreamers.
Free to the public, the showcase features dancers who would like to try something new in a welcoming format to test that new piece, get your feet wet on a professional stage,or simply want a relaxed performance experience.
**Dancers are required to fulfill workshop hours requirement to qualify for the showcase.
The FCBD is open to all dancers and drummers to perform in an improvisational format to live drumming.
*Please note there is a 2-hour workshop requirement for this performance option.
Purchase of All-Skate Dancers or All-Skate Drummers Workshop is mandatory to perform for dancers and drummers and will be taught as a 2-track option.
FCBD All-Skate will be facilitated by Sher.
Drumming for All Skate Dancers will be facilitated by Trin.
All-Skate will be at the Flights of Fancy Show on Saturday night.
For Dancers: Learn to hear the rhythm beneath the music—and let it tell your body where to go. Discover a few essential Middle Eastern rhythms that will make you a more confident and musical dancer. We ask dancers to be familiar with FCBD Level 1 as the focus of the workshop will be on musicality and movement within a larger group setting.
For Drummers: Learn the rhythms that make Middle Eastern music move. Start with the essential patterns, then discover how to turn Dum, Tek, and Ka into groove, expression, and conversation.
